Student Safety
Parents should know exactly how sessions work and who to call. This page describes our practices for every student, and what we ask of parents.
Parent presence and access
- For students under 18, a parent or guardian is at the location or reachable by phone for the whole session. For In-Home sessions, an adult is home.
- Parents are welcome to sit in, check in, or ask for a quick summary after any session.
- Students under 18 are enrolled only by a parent or legal guardian, who signs the Service Agreement and Parental Consent.
Where sessions happen
- Library sessions take place in public library spaces during branch hours; in-person sessions end by 8pm.
- Virtual sessions use Zoom. Parents may join or be nearby.
- In-Home sessions take place in a shared family space with an adult at home. We confirm the location before the first visit.
Communication boundaries
- Scheduling, billing and progress updates go to the parent or guardian.
- Messages with students are about tutoring only, through the contact details given on the Service Agreement.
- We do not connect with students on personal social media accounts.
Photos and recordings
We do not photograph or record students without written consent. Recording consent is optional and separate on the Service Agreement, and testimonials use a first name only and need the parent’s written approval first.
Emergency contacts
The Service Agreement asks for an emergency contact in addition to the parent or guardian. If a student is ill or hurt during a session, we stop, make sure the student is safe, and contact the parent or guardian right away, then the emergency contact if needed, and call 911 for anything urgent.
Incidents and concerns
Any safety concern, injury, or behavior that worries us is reported to the parent or guardian promptly and written down with the date and what happened. If you ever have a concern about a session, tell us at getmayotutors@gmail.com or (470) 404-6838 and we will respond personally.
Children’s privacy
This website is for parents, guardians and adult students. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Quote and sign-up forms are completed by a parent or guardian. See the Privacy Policy.
